Robert W. (Bob) Harris passed away on Friday, November 17th 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Chincoteague, VA on March 1, 1945. He is preceded in death by his Dad, Earl Weldon Harris whom he adored. He is survived by his loving Mother, Elizabeth B. Harris and wife, June McClenny Harris, his five children Lynn Harris Dunbar (Dan) of Durham, NC, Scott Harris (Beth) of Green Bay, WI, Joe Harris (Lori) of Virginia Beach, VA, Wade McClenny (Julie) of Virginia Beach, VA and Brad McClenny (Patsy) of Lawrenceville, VA. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Betsy, Joe Joe, Tiffany, Amanda, Jeremy and Megan as well as four great grandchildren, Amelia, Cale, Austin and Alexia.
He graduated from Tonawanda High School in Buffalo, NY and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1980 from St. Leo College. Bob served as a Virginia Beach Police Officer for over eighteen years and founded Atlantic Protective Services, Inc. which has served the Tidewater area for over 35 years. He was very active and supportive in so many areas and arenas of life. He coached multiple sports, was a qualified fishing instructor at Back Bay, belonged to several bass fishing clubs, several pool leagues and for many years now has strongly enjoyed the game of golf. He loved the challenge and gave his best to each of his hobbies.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21st at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Interment will follow immediately after service.
