Ruby Rolene D. Ermen passed away on November 13, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Rolene brought a gentle spirit, quiet strength, and enduring warmth to everyone she encountered.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Willie J. Ermen, a Norfolk native; her parents, Peter Roland Donnelly and Ruth Lincoln Donnelly of Awendaw, South Carolina; and several siblings.
Missing her beyond words are her daughters, Michelle E. Comer and her spouse, Bobby, and Linda Ermen. She is also deeply mourned by her sisters, Penelope Limbaker and Judith Kessler, and her brother, Stuart T. Donnelly and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rolene began her working life at C&P Telephone Company, but she chose to leave her career to embrace what she considered her greatest calling—being a mother. Nothing brought her more joy than devoting herself fully to her family and her home. She became a steadfast role model not only to her daughters but also to their friends, all of whom lovingly thought of her as their second mom.
A woman of faith, Rolene cherished her church community, and she found daily peace and purpose in her walks along the beautiful paths at First Landing State Park. These simple rhythms grounded her and reflected the mindful, nurturing way she lived her life.
A celebration of her long life will be held on January 18, 2026, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, 2430 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, VA, with a reception immediately following.
Rolene’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
