

Virginia Beach- Ruby Bingham Walters, 87, died Nov 16, 2010. She was born Sept 7,1923 to Frank and Lura Bingham in Cove Creek ,North Carolina. She was the eldest of eleven children. Her husband, Jack S Walters and brothers Gordon Bingham, Jack Bingham, Tom Bingham, and Jimmy Bingham preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Elena Walters of Virginia Beach; her son Jack S Walters, Jr of Richmond, Virginia; five sisters, Mary Anne Eldreth of Bluff City Tenn., Sarah Henderson of Abington, VA, Dorothy Sue Hagy of Culter Bay, FL, Jane Moser of Rolla Missouri and Julia Davis of Williamsburg, VA; and one brother Richard Bingham of Augusta, WVA.
She graduated from Meadowview High School In Meadowview, VA. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps and graduated from Duke University School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
She was a former employee of Kellum Funeral Home's Pleasant Hall Chapel.
Ruby was the first president of the Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital's Volunteer Corp and a long time hospital volunteer. She was a member of Great Neck Baptist Church and active in church activities all her life.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ms. Andrea Emilsson of Trinity Haven and Sentara Hospice for the loving caring provided in the final months of her life.
