Nécrologie de Thomas "Tommy" Edward Snead Sr.
Thomas Edward Snead, Sr was born on August 11, 1935, in Covington, Virginia, to Lawrence Edward and Geneva Snead. He lived a very blessed 88 years of life, until he was called home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2024. Tommy grew up in Covington, VA. He graduated from Covington High School in 1954. He worked at the Snead’s Family Car Dealership until he entered the U.S. Coast Guard in December 1954. He served for four years. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he met and married the love of his life Dolores Cullifer in May 1958. Together they raised two children, Pam and Eddy. It was in those early years Tommy worked hard and learned a few jobs before landing his career job as Purchasing Agent with Ocean Electric Corporation for 26 years. From an early age Tommy attended church. As a young family man, he attended Tabernacle Church of Norfolk. The impact of the Christian community is how Tommy modeled his life. He lived a faithful life to God, his wife, his family, and his church. In many ways Tommy was a quiet man. He enjoyed serving and giving back to the community, his church and Triple R Ranch, by offering manual labor, electrical advice and purchasing knowledge, in addition to many other things. Tommy loved to go camping along the beaches in Hatteras and Ocracoke Island NC. This is where he enjoyed boating and fishing with his family and friends. There are countless stories and memories of these fun times from those who were blessed to join him. For a short time, in his early senior years, Tommy began working for E. H. Ives Electric. This is when he became best friends with the owner, Ellis Ives, for the remainder of his life. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence E Snead and Geneva Poore, his sister Brenda Brinkley (Glen). He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dolores, and children, Pamela Stanton (Ed) and Thomas E Snead, Jr (Tammy). He was known as Grandpa to his five grandchildren: Nathan Stanton (Cait), Drew Snead (Marie), Kendall Rose (Travis), Katie Collins (Nic), and Matthew Snead; and his six great grandchildren: Catherine, Tommy, Olivia, River, Luke and Liam. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 13th, 12:00pm at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 Instead of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to Norfolk Christian Schools or Tabernacle Church of Norfolk.
