Tina Mae Reynolds

Tina Mae Myers Reynolds was born on November 26, 1908, in rural Bertie County near the small town of Aulander, North Carolina. She was the oldest of seven children born to Raleigh Beecher Myers and Janie Morris Myers. The first to be born, she was the last member of her family to die on May 11, 2010 at the age of 101.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell F. Reynolds, a native of Mississippi and Chief Warrant Officer in the US Navy. They celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary with numerous family members in 1992 in Virginia and were married for over 55 years.

Tina had no children of her own, but became the matriarch of the vast Myers family after the death of her parents. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews born to her siblings, and countless grandnieces and grandnephews.

Tina’s long life of 101 years spanned most of the 20th century and 10 years of the 21st century. After such a long and eventful life here on earth, Tina has moved on to another realm. She has gone on to join the ranks of nearly all the people that she knew and loved most, waiting to welcome her with joy and thanksgiving. Tina's sharp mind and wit, fully present until the very end of her life, will be sorely missed by all who knew this amazing woman.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Tina's cousin, Edna Padrick of Portsmouth, VA, for the tireless support and care she and her husband provided in Tina's final years. We would also like to recognize Tina's physician, Dr. Patterson; the superb staff at Seaside Health Clinic in Atlantic Shores; and most importantly, Tina's caregivers - especially her primary caregiver and companion, Judy Robbins, who cared for Tina like family.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 PM Monday, May 17, prior to service in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach.
