Virginia Beach – Varetta Jane Leach, 103, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2011. Mrs. Leach, affectionately known as Momma Leach, loved the Lord, her family, nursing, people and her church family. She was a devoted Christian woman, who lived out her faith. Mrs. Leach always had a smile, an infectious personality, and never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Deams C. Leach, Sr.; son, Deams C. Leach, Jr.; daughter, Hazel Hearn Johnson ; and grandson, Gary Michael Leach.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2011 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church with a viewing one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
