Steve was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on October 24, 1956, and was the son of the late Stanley Hoerle Leonard, Jr. and Verna Brown Leonard. He graduated from First Colonial High School and attended James Madison University and graduated from the University of Hawaii.
Steve was a lifelong local of Va. Beach and enjoyed all the activities including hanging out with friends and relatives at the oceanfront.
Steve is survived by his brothers Scott Leonard (Bettie) of Va. Beach, Bob Leonard (Susanne) of Suffolk and sister Anne Carroll Baumstark (Jim) of Fletcher, NC, his niece Rebecca Attreed (Corbin), nephews Jimmy Baumstark, Ben Leonard and Sean Leonard, aunts Mary Anne Simmons and Susan Flanagan and many cousins and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 10 to 11a.m. A celebration of Life will be held at 11a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
