He was the husband of the late Beatrice I. (Espinosa) Miraldes and Marie (Giarrusso) Rothermel. Born in Providence, RI, he was a son of the late John and Isabell (Woods) Rothermel.
Mr. Rothermel proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was the loving father of Herbert Jr., George, Robert, David, and James Rothermel and the late Kenneth and Carlo Rothermel, and Cheryl Geiger. He leaves several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Edith Turk and Beverly Santos and the late Mark Rothermel and Pauline Hicks. He also leaves six step-daughters and one step-son.
He was an avid fisherman and quahogger. He enjoyed watching the NE Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 27th from 9-11 a.m. with his funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, RI. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
