Nancy Ellen Troll

Nancy Ellen Troll, 77, of North Kingstown passed away suddenly on January 16, 2025. Nancy was born in Providence on January 28, 1947, to Louis and Rita (Sullivan) Troll. A life-long resident of Rhode Island, she grew up in Providence with her parents and younger siblings, Janice and John, and graduated from Classical High School and Rhode Island College . She spent her entire career teaching elementary grades in North Kingstown, where she also made her home. Over the years, she enjoyed the companionship of several special little dogs that joined her on their regular walks through the neighborhood.

While teaching, she made sure to capitalize on her vacation time by planning regular travels with friends, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii. In retirement she maintained close friendships with her former teaching colleagues, and was an avid bowler, rarely missing league play. She also enjoyed attending the Met Opera Live in HD performances.

Nancy is survived by her sister Janice Smith and brother-in-law Eric Smith of Noank, CT; sister-in-law Karen Troll of Coventry, RI; nephew Patrick Troll of Coventry, RI; niece Ellen Smith of Newburyport, MA; and nephew Ben Smith, his wife Amber Hallet, and their daughters Isla and Margot of Seattle, WA; as well as special cousins the Gederman and Pepin families and many neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Rita Troll and brother John Troll.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 23rd at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
