Teresa “Terri” Marie Paquin, age 57, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, after showing extraordinary courage throughout her 16 month battle with cancer. She was the cherished partner of Bruce Nasberg, with whom she shared a meaningful and loving life since 2018.
Born in Providence, Terri was the youngest of seven children of the late William J. and E. Evelyn (Sullivan) McGovern.
Terri spent much of her life working in retail, building connections everywhere she went. She worked at Wal-Mart and Sears, where she and Bruce first crossed paths, before joining CVS, where she devoted 17 years as a shift supervisor. Terri had a way of making everyday interactions feel meaningful; she offered encouragement, humor, and compassion to coworkers and customers alike.
Terri’s life was a beautiful blend of creativity, generosity, and fun. She loved concerts, crafting, and opening her home for gatherings, especially her beloved Fourth of July celebrations, she loved to gather with family and friends. She naturally became a “den mother” to the college students living in her rental property next door, always watching over them and treating them like part of her extended family.
Those who loved Terri will remember her for her boundless heart. She cared for people deeply, with sincerity and without hesitation. Her strength was remarkable, not only in the way she faced illness, but in the way she lived every day with purpose, resilience, and humor.
Terri found joy in the simple moments, especially her annual trips every September to her timeshare in New Hampshire, where she felt at peace. Even during her illness, Terri insisted on living life fully and on her own terms. She chose to pause her treatments so she could make treasured memories at Disney and enjoy a cruise, experiences that brought her tremendous happiness. Despite everything she faced, she never stopped singing, joking, or finding light in the world around her.
Terri leaves behind a family who adored her. In addition to Bruce, she is survived by her son Robert Paquin and his fiancée Ashley; her siblings Elizabeth Christofaro (Kevin), Barbara Chappell (Dave), Kathleen Daniels (Curtis), Mary Simmons (and her late husband Brian), and Michael McGovern (and his partner Jenn Papa); her sister in law MaryBeth McGovern; and her devoted dog, Biscuit, who brought her endless comfort. She was predeceased by her brother Edward McGovern.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terri’s memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, www.bcrf.org or the RISPCA, www.rispca.org
Terri lived life with an open heart, a fierce spirit, and a kindness that touched everyone lucky enough to know her. She taught those around her to find joy in small moments, to laugh freely, to love boldly, and to never lose sight of life’s magic, even in the hardest times. Her voice, her humor, and her unwavering strength will echo in the memories of those she loved. Though she is no longer with us, the light she brought into the world will continue to shine in the lives she touched.
