I will always remember my grandma as a very loving and giving person.  She took my mom & I into her home when my mom was very young and I was still a baby.  She was a HUGE part of my life growing up and I will always be thankful for that.  I should have been another statistic, but because of God, my grandma and a few others in my life, I was able to beat those odds.  My grandma ALWAYS stuck by me through thick and thin, whether I was right or wrong, just because she loved me.  That's what kind of person she was.  When my grandpa died, I was still living at home with the two of them.  She loved him and missed him so much.  There were many sleepless nights where she cried herself to sleep just from exhaustion.  We talked a lot.  I mainly listened.  It was a little while after my grandpa died (a couple of years or more) that I started to know Jesus.  I remembered there were times when Grandpa first died that Grandma told me she was so angry with God (for taking him).  But I would occasionally talk to her about God, Jesus and Grandpa and how this was all just part of a bigger and grander plan.  In those early days, I think Grandma was really more of an agnostic.  But talking to her through the years, especially these last few months, I could tell she was becoming more of a believer.  About two weeks before she died, I visited her in the nursing home and read to her that night.  She was in and out of it, but I read to her from The Gospels.  When I was done, I very matter of factly asked my grandma if she believed in Jesus.  She responded that she did.  Shortly after this she fell asleep, I kissed her on her forehead and told her that I loved her, Grandpa loved her and that Jesus loved her.  I also told her that I knew that she was tired and in pain and that it was ok if she wanted to let go and be with Grandpa and Jesus.  I kissed her again, told her I loved her and left. What a great lady. I had the pleasure of working with Betty for a number of years at Electro Chemical Finishing. Betty was the first employee at the company, and was loyal until the day she retired. She was very professional, conducting business with customers. She was a person of conviction, dedication and faith, and that showed in her relationships with others at work. She always treated me well and with respect. And she would share with me the goings on with her family from time to time, which gave me a special glimpse into her life. I enjoyed speaking with her whenever I visited that work location. My condolences to the family and friends. At the time Betty retired in 2010, she and I had worked together for over 40 years.  First at Furniture City Plating, then at Furniture City Manufacturing and finally at Electro Chemical Finishing,  She was the first person that we hired when we started Electro Chemical Finishing and she will always remain close to my heart.  I thank the Lord for knowing her and having her play an important role in the early  success of Electro Chemical Finishing. Mom, love you and going to miss you. We had lots of happy times and good memories when we would pick you up for the weekends and go to Sandy Pines. We went to plays, shopping in Saugatuck, going out to eat, going over to Leslee's for Fri. nite supers, playing cards, helping you play your cards, taking you to see your good friends Robert and Carolyn, in Peoria Ill. for thanksgivings, and even enjoyed our Kahluas! My kids and my grandkids are going to miss you very much, they tried to get you on the golfcart but that wasn't your thing! I remember Betty always with a smile on her face, through good and bad.  Betty had beautiful flawless skin, and her hair was always blonde and always made up to look elegant.  Betty was always ready for going out to eat, and for many adventures.   Betty loved her daughters and their children, and the extended families.  She doted on the grandchildren.  I knew Betty as a happy, loving person and I will miss seeing her.  May God welcome her with open arms.
