Dean M. Berends

Dean Berends, 57, of Shelbyville, formerly of Moline, entered through Heaven's gate on Sunday, July 24th 2016. Dean was born on August 1, 1958, the son of Ernest and Rozza (Michael) Berends. He is survived by Laura, his wife of 21 years; his puppies, Shelby and Star; his children Erik (Dawn) Haveman, Sarah (John) Send, Mark (Angie) Stauffer, Amber (Jim) Browneye; his grandchildren, Dominic, Jocelyn and Hunter, Nolan and Carter, Parker and Tyler, Olivia and Emily; his brothers, Dan (Val) Berends, Don (Cheryl) Berends, Dick (Linda) Berends; his sister, Judy Draaisma and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, David Berends, and his dogs Midnight and Shadow. Dean enjoyed spending his free time with his dogs and grandchildren, fishing, camping and tinkering on engines. Visitation with his family will be on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th Street. His Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11 AM. A graveside service will follow at Dorr Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dean may be made to his family for medical expenses.
