Mary Helen Krup, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, and to rejoin her husband on December 8, 2015, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her closest friend and husband of 65 years, Richard Krup, and her parents John and Helen (Humenik) Koval. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children: Patricia "Pat" (Dan) Guldenzoph and Richard "Mike" (Judy) Krup; her grandchildren: Andrea (Ryan) Haase, Scott (Joy) Guldenzoph, and Katherine Guldenzoph and Kristen Krup; her sister Helen (Walter) Alflen and her brother John (Patty) Koval; and several nieces and nephews. Mary provided love and guidance for her family and shared much of her Slovak heritage as a reminder of humble beginnings. She was talented creating crocheted, sewn, or knitted crafts from basic materials and love. Mary's caring went beyond her family and she served the community for years as an election official. Her St. Therese rosary group and parish community were very important and dear to Mary. Her husband, Richard, cherished the love and spiritual direction that Mary provided for their family. He was also very proud of his 20-year-old navy wife who left a farm to join him in Rhode Island, meet other navy wives, and arrange for their living accommodations when he left her for the first time on a naval mission. Humility was one of Mary's many virtues, and she never complained or asked anything of her family members when her health was declining. While living at Maplewood Assisted Living, Mary's sweet demeanor and sense of humor were appreciated by the staff and other residents there. Friends may visit with Mary's family on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, 312 N. Main Street, Wayland, with a rosary at 7:30 PM.
