Rozza Marie Berends

Rozza Marie Berends (Michael), born February 11, 1929, entered though heaven's gate on August 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ernest Berends in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her son David Berends in 1989, and three sisters and brother-in-law, Verla Arndt, Juanita and Bill Nelson and Ernestine Michael. She is survived by her children: Daniel and Valerie Berends, Donald and Cheryl Berends, Dick and Linda Berends, Judy Draaisma, and Dean and Laura Berends; grandchildren: Jarrod and Aaron Berends, Amanda (Berends) Rowe, Jeremiah and Joshua Berends, Jacob, Jr. and Joseph Draaisma, Sarah (Berends) Send, and Eric Haveman; step-grandchildren: Mark and Amber Stauffer; and 15 great-grandchildren. She had an unwavering faith in God and attended Moline Baptist Church for many years until they moved to Howard City, where they attended Howard City Baptist Church. She was a bus driver for over 20 years for Wayland Schools. Rozza was well known for her wedding cakes and any occasion cakes. She retired to Howard City and kept busy with a big garden and enjoyed the quiet of living in the country. She was so appreciative of Dick and his wife Linda, who were both there and helped her with anything and everything. Dick was always available whenever she needed him. Rozza enjoyed visiting with Dan and Val in Hawaii the past two winters, where she enjoyed the beautiful island and the warm weather. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Dorr, 4330 18th Street. A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM, Monday, August 5, 2013 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services with Pastor Brian Humphries officiating, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Dorr Cemetery. In honor of Rozza, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
