

He attended public schools in Plaisance, La. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and attended St. John Baptist Church in Ville Platte, Louisiana. On June 14, 1958 he married the love of his life and soulmate Annie Lee Mose, to this union five children were born. After moving to Galveston, Texas he joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. M.L. Ford. Where he served as a deacon until moving his membership to Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. Zephaniah Phillips. He was as active deacon, worker, and member of Greater Bell Zion under the leadership of Rev. Jerry B. Lee, Jr. until his health begin to fail. He worked with Manhattan Construction Group and Linbeck Construction Corporation for at least 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Murphy Sam, Lou Wilda Sam, Bernadette Daniels and Wesley Sam.
Mourning his departure and cherishing his memory are his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years Annie L. Sam, his children Michael Sam (Yolanda), Donald Sam, Kenneth Sam (Ireyan), Pamela Green (Emmett) and Paula Handy (Andre). His brothers Sidney Sam (Bettie) and Filbert Sam and his sister Eula Mae Jackson. He has 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and his beloved Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church’s Family.
