

Born in Guadalupe County on August 13, 1913 Alvin William Raske, 97, passed away suddenly at home in Pasadena, Texas on Saturday, February 26, 2011 exactly eighteen years after the death of his beloved wife of 56 years, Elenora Merz Raske. He was preceded in death by his daughter Joan Bruno, his parents Herman Julius Raske II and Ida Amelia (Dammann) four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his daughter Betty Jean Raske Everette and husband Robert Everette, son-in-law Bob Bruno, grandchildren Brenda Herrington, Bobby Bruno, William Bruno, Janice Teer-Stone, Jennifer Kerckhoff, Greg Upchurch, Susan Ibanez, Neal Upchurch, and Janette Coates, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Prior to retiring to the Jasper area he and his wife managed the Alamo Plaza Motel in Beaumont for thirty-four years. They were both active members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served as head usher and his wife sang in the choir.
He spent many happy years of retirement in his home on the corner of the Angelina River and Trout Creek. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was the strength of the family and gave his love freely to all of us and his Lord. A meal was never eaten at his table without a prayer. He resided in Pasadena his last thirteen years with his daughter Betty and husband Robert.
He will be entombed on Tuesday, March 1st at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. Visitation 12:00 - 2 pm. Service at 2pm both in the Chapel of Faith at the Chapelview Mausoleum.
