With great sadness and heavy hearts, the world lost a cherished light with the peaceful passing of Beatrice Esther Garcia Lopez on November 22, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. Born on January 4, 1937, in Laredo, Texas to Servando and Marcela Trevino (Ramon), and raised in Houston, Beatrice grew into a woman whose adventurous spirit, persistent and determined strength, and unwavering devotion shaped every chapter of her remarkable life. She was the cherished wife of the late Raymond S. Garcia, with whom she built a life filled with purpose, laughter, and family.
Beatrice was preceded by in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her eldest son, Randall Anthony Garcia, whose memory remained forever close to her heart. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Israel Trevino, Servando Trevino Jr., Arnold Trevino Sr, and her sister, Minerva Pavia.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Reuben Arthur Garcia, Raymond Garcia Jr., and Roderick Adam Garcia and devoted to lovingly raising as a son, her grandson, Ryan Anthony Garcia. She also survived by four daughters-in-law, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest brother Ruben Trevino, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beatrice, in her late teens, met the love of her life, Raymond S. Garcia, when she was walking to the store in the Magnolia Park neighborhood. While walking to the store, Raymond struck up a conversation with Beatrice around 1955, and it was love at first sight for both. Raymond was in the Navy during this time but on break, but they exchanged contact information, and they kept a long-distance relationship. He would often send by parcel with a telegram, specially grown flowers that grew only in Hawaii to Beatrice. After the Navy, they were later married on December 6, 1959. Raymond and Beatrice were happily married for almost 23 years until his untimely death. Beatrice was a loyal employee and worked for the City of Houston Public Works Division for 30 years until retiring.
A woman of deep and steadfast faith, Beatrice lived each day guided by love, service, and prayer. As a faithful Catholic and longtime member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, she poured her heart into her community, her family, and her relationship with God. Her life was a beautiful testament to grace, resilience, and an enduring belief in God’s care.
Beatrice demonstrated to everyone that love is not merely a word — it is an action. Beatrice’s compassion reflected the very qualities she embodied, and her devotion was seen by all and will carry forward through for generations.
To her family and friends, Beatrice was the kind of mother and companion one hopes for in a lifetime — faithful, compassionate, and endlessly generous with her time, energy, and boundless heart. Her love and commitment towards God were evident and contagious to many and she enjoyed praying with her Prayer Group. Her love for world travel, her adventurous streak, her strength in the face of life’s challenges, her love for plants and flowers at home and with the Garden Club, her love for seeing and feeding deer, and her devotion to nurturing lifelong friendships — some spanning more than 80 years — left a lasting mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rest peacefully, Beatrice, in the arms of Jesus. Your spirit lives on in every life you touched and in the enduring love you leave behind. Her unconditional love was a source of comfort and strength for the Garcia family and those touched by her passionate strength and godly spirit. The family is comforted knowing that Beatrice has been reunited with her loved ones and is in the arms of her true love, Raymond, once again.
