Betty Jo Adkison, 83 of Houston, Texas passed away August 28, 2020 with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Garrison, Texas on October 12, 1936 to Robert Lee and Ida Francis Shipp. She was married to the love of her life, Billy Glendon Adkison, for 64 years and they had two children, Kent and Kim.
Betty, otherwise known as MeMe, loved spending time with her much-loved grandchildren, shopping, bowling and playing the stock market. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church of Pasadena and cherished all the members in the church.
Betty, who was a two-time breast cancer survivor, was preceded in death by her loving, supportive parents, Robert Lee and Ida Francis Shipp; her doting brother, Robert Earl Shipp and his wife, Kay Shipp; and her beloved In-laws, Buford and Cecil Adkison.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Billy; son, Kent David Adkison and wife, Elana; daughter, Kimberly Jo Leach and husband, Jim. Grandchildren: Amber Giesenschlag and husband Gerald, Sara Beth Muzny and husband Travis, Amanda Adkison, Samantha O’Neal, Michael Adkison, and Caitlin Leach. Great Grandchildren: Granger Weston Giesenschlag arriving in September, 2020; brother Buddy Shipp and wife Jessie; sister-in-law Wanda King and husband Tommy and 6 nephews and nieces that she loved dearly.
A visitation following social distancing protocols (masks required) will take place from 2:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, September 5 with the funeral following at 3:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, TX. The service will be lead by Pastor Tommy Dahn, Bruce Stoney and Barry Wilmore. Serving as Pallbearers are Travis Muzny, Steven Shipp, Jimmy Harrington, Phil Garrett, Randy Shipp, Wayne Harris and Billy Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Gerald Giesenschlag, Alex Aldas, Elders and Deacons of Providence Baptist Church.
