Carlos was born in Panama City, Republic of Panama, on July 11th, 1940, to Carlos Alberto & Rosa Evelia de Thachar and raised by his uncle and aunt, Reynaldo & Laura Aminta De La Rosa.
His childhood and young adulthood in Panama instilled in him a lifelong commitment to his family, his career as a first-class welder, work, and a passion for sports and music. At the age of 21, Carlos graduated from Instituto de Artes Mecanica Divisa, earning his welding certification which set a foundation for a successful career. His first assignment was at the Panama Refining Company in Minas Bay near Colon, the opportunity that paved the way to work for some of the largest global companies and travelled the world. He was a devoted professional in his trade field and a proud member of the Pipefitters Local Union 211 Houston for over forty years. He truly exemplified dedication and hard work throughout his life.
Carlos and Haydee met and fell in love in Panama at a young age which lasted an entire lifetime. He immigrated to the United States, settled in New York and shortly after his wife, Haydee, followed with their two daughters. Carlos worked hard to establish and build a successful life for himself and his family. Together they relocated to Houston, TX, raised their five children, had thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, instilling in them the values of family, love, respect, hard work and integrity. Carlos was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in preparing and cooking the game he brought home. He had a deep passion for baseball; playing, coaching and watching games. Carlos loved his music, enjoyed dancing with his wife and playing percussion instruments. He loved having parties and playing dominoes with family and friends. He made it a priority to call and visit his children and attended his grandchildren and great-grandchild events. He cherished his daughter-in-law and sons-in-law. Carlos lived life on his terms and lived it well; and will be greatly missed. In honor of our parents, their names were added to the American Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island (Panel 757).
