Charles Dewayne Richardson

He was born on February 7, 1935 to Winfred P and Lassie J Leach Richardson in Speedwell, Tennessee, and was the 4th of 10 children.

Charles attended Powell Valley High School and Memphis State University. He enlisted in the USAF in 1953 where he met his wife of 61 years, Jama Jones. They were married on July 28, 1957 at Charleston AFB, South Carolina.

Charles retired in 1998 after 40 years with the Federal Aviation Administration including a 6 year tour of duty at Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. Since his retirement he has written and published 4 books and was currently working on a historical novel about WWII. "Pawpaw" loved recalling and embellishing, to mesmerized grandchildren, his adventures as a youth in the hills of East Tennessee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jama Jones Richardson and sons Charles Randal Richardson of Webster, TX; Kevin Michael Richardson and wife Alice of Friendswood, TX; five beloved grandchildren, Anthony, Michelle, Aaron, Abigail and Emma Richardson; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Fred and Leon Richardson.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a graveside memorial service that will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas. Rev. Jim Bass from Friendswood Methodist Church will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to cancer research.
