A graduate of Sam Rayburn High School, Class of 1974, Curtis went on to earn his degree from the University of Houston in 1980. A lifelong Cougar, he never missed a chance to show his UH pride at athletic events — “Go Coogs!” was a phrase never far from his lips.
Curtis devoted his professional career to aquatics and pool construction, beginning as a lifeguard with the City of Pasadena before advancing through the Parks and Recreation Department. His expertise, leadership, and passion for service ultimately led him to serve as President of Paddock Southwest, where he left an indelible mark on the industry and his community.
Service was the cornerstone of Curtis’s life. A true servant leader, he gave countless hours to organizations across Texas. He was a founder of the Texas Public Pool Council and gave 45 years of dedicated service to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, where he proudly served as Swim Commissioner. He was also a fixture at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for 26 years, rising through the volunteer ranks from Rodeo Express Committeeman to Committee Chairman, and ultimately serving as a Director. For five decades, Curtis also dedicated his weekends to Texas high school football as a respected referee, a role that brought him joy and lifelong friendships.
Curtis will be remembered for his commitment to serving others, his larger-than-life presence, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether at a ballgame, a rodeo, a swim meet, or a backyard gathering, he lit up every room he entered.
Above all, Curtis was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Morgan; his children, Rebecca Bryant and husband, Brady, and Stephen Morgan and wife, Julianna; and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Bryant, Jack Morgan, and William Morgan. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Morgan and wife, Debbie; his sister, Lisa Pound and husband, Jeff; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Curtis faced his final battle with pancreatic cancer with extraordinary strength, choosing to spend his last days surrounded by family and filled with love. His faith in Jesus Christ gave him peace, and his legacy of loyalty, service, and joy will live on in all who knew him.
