Dolores grew up on a farm in central Texas with a large family. As the eldest of five children, she spent many hours as a young girl herding turkeys, helping in the fields, and watching her brothers and sisters. She loved telling stories of her youth about when she had to live with her teachers to be able to go to school or riding horseback with her dad to get home.
Dolores was proud to be valedictorian of her high school class. When she moved to Houston, she worked as a secretary for McCullough Tool Company. It was there, she met the love of her life Jones Doyle Ranton. Together they built and owned a convenience store in South Houston for 45 years. During those years, Dolores served in various positions for the South Houston Chamber of Commerce. She also solicited annually for the American Heart Association. Although widowed late in life she continued to enjoy the beach, dancing, and traveling with special friends. The convenience store was her opportunity to enjoy people, work hard, serve her community, and love life. As a mother, she exemplified hard work, compassion, and perseverance.
As a resident of Regency Village, Dolores often stated how much she loved her caregivers. Without hesitation, she consistently confirmed her love for them. The delight of her life was seeing her granddaughter and daughter. She spoke often of loving and praying to Jesus.
Dolores is preceded in death by her mother Emma Wilhelmine Wolz and father George John Spacek, brothers Harlan Spacek and George E. Spacek and sister Lavern Norman.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Julie Rogers, son-in-law Gary Rogers, and granddaughter Katherine Ranton of Alvin, Texas. Son Randy Ranton and grandson Roger Ranton from Houston, Texas. Sister Anne Chernosky of Grandview, Texas. As well as various nieces and nephews, The Chernosky family of Grandview and Alvin, Texas, The Norman family of Palestine and Madisonville, Texas, The Bryant family of Palestine, Texas, and the Spacek family of Dimebox and Lexington, Texas.
