He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years Jeanne Marie, Touchette and his oldest stepson James Thomas Chisholm.
He is survived by his daughters Joan Marie Tibbitts, Judy Ann Ockerman, Jana Lynn Bradshaw, Jeanneine Rochelle, Touchette, and Claude, David, Touchette and Zhanne Touchette Kirk, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren, all on mother’s side of the family. On dad’s side, there are many family members in Breaux Bridge and Lafayette Louisiana.
At the time of his death, he was a resident of Magnolia Texas. But his heart was in Louisiana where he lived for most of his life until 1959 when he and Mom and us four kids moved to Pasadena Texas, where all of the oil refineries were and still are. He worked for National Marine Service and various other agencies in the oil industry for 47 years. He was the son of a sharecropper with almost no education but with hard work and sheer determination and with the help from our mother elevated himself within the company until he became a much sought after and noted consultant in the oil refinery industry. His specialty was working with hazmat to clean up oil spills and put out fires. He had a very interesting and dangerous career. In 2000 he moved to Magnolia Texas from Pasadena TX and retired from American Chemical Barge Lines in 2006. After retirement, he lived the life doing what he loved.
His hobbies included hunting, gardening, growing beautiful roses, fishing, traveling, but most of all he spent quality time, spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our daddy had a heart as big as TEXAS. If you had a need, he tried to fulfill it and 99.9% of the time he succeeded. He was never at a loss for something to do. He stayed busy constantly. He had friends in high places and some in not so high places. He treated everyone equally and he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. But unfortunately, when you live to be 89 years old, most of the time you have outlived, your close friends and a lot of your relatives. He is the last of 13 children, born of Edvard Touchette Senior and Bapistine Douet Touchette. Another angel has gotten his wings, and this world is a little dimmer with his absence. Now go zydeco with mama.
