Edward James Lee Sr.

Edward James Lee Sr., age 92, of Dickinson, Texas passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. Edward (Ed, EJ) was born and raised in Biloxi, MS and referred to his childhood as growing up in the swamps. He was raised by his parents and lots of extended family close by. Edward became an Eagle Scout and graduated from Biloxi High School in 1948. Shortly afterwards he joined the Naval Reserve where he served for 2 years. He then enlisted into the US Coast Guard where he served for almost 20 years achieving the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, E9. Chief Lee retired from the USCG in July 1970.

Ed met his wife, Coleen King, through his good friend, Kirby King. Within a few months they were married and began their family. Edward loved serving his country through his military service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, tinkering in the garage, gardening, and especially loved telling stories to his friends and family. He was a devoted husband and a very involved father for his kids. Family members have fond memories of his kite making, fried chicken, fishing trips, and mischievous disposition. After his retirement from the USCG he joined the City of Texas City as the Superintendent of the Street and Bridge Department. He became actively involved in the Evening Optimist International Club, becoming a Lifetime member and loved serving his community.

He was preceded in his death by his grandparents, parents Robert and Ester Lee, and his loving wife Dorothy Coleen Lee.

Children: Sandra Cummings and her husband Frank Cummings; Edward Lee, Jr.; Donna Lee and partner Mike Adair; Gwen Brehm and husband Michael Schlei.

Grandchildren:

Cristen Alicea and husband Gil Alicea; Jeffrey Gimenez and partner Christi Waymire;

Derek Brehm and wife Karen Wooten; Michael Brehm and wife Jaime Tinevez; Carolyn Brehm and fiancé Peter Alex; Jacob Lee and partner Megan Woods.

Great-grandchildren:

Anthony Alicea, Helen Brehm, Alice Brehm, Arlen Brehm, and Betty Brehm.

Extended family:

Brother-n-law Gary King and his family; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and family!
