Eleonira Coleman, 72, of El Campo, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2026. Born June 30, 1953, in Farmingdale, New York, Eleonira was adopted by Refugio Gonzalez and Laura Campos Gonzalez, along with her three brothers. She carried forward a life anchored in faith, devotion, and steady, hardworking love.
Known to many by her nicknames “Jenita,” “Honey,” and “Val,” Jenita was remembered for a great personality and a warm, open hearted way with people—someone who truly never met a stranger, and who loved to laugh. Her family was everything to her, especially her mother; she was, in every sense, her mother’s little girl. She loved her cousins like siblings, helped babysit for family and friends, and gave of herself in quiet, practical ways that made life easier for the people she cared about.
Jenita’s life was also defined by dedication and craft. She worked for Stern Empire as a dental technician beginning in 1972, and then furthering her career with Rose Brothers Laboratory later in life, bringing to her work a thoroughness and precision that reflected a deeply responsible spirit—steady, dependable, and proud of doing things the right way.
A woman of faithful conviction, Jenita was a member of the Catholic community—most recently at St. Roberts in El Campo, and for over 30 years at St. Mary’s in League City.
Jenita was preceded in death by parents and three brothers, Hector Velasquez, Leo Velasquez, and Tito Velasquez.
She is survived by her husband, Abel Coleman, to whom she was married for over 40 years, and with whom she shared a very loving and close life together; their daughter, Swayzie Coleman; her brothers, Robert Gonzales (Yolanda) and Rey Gonzales (Santa); and her nieces and nephews, Jason, Amy, Brian, Tammy, Chantel, and Dey, along with numerous extended family.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas. A Rosary will follow at 1:00 pm, and service will begin at 1:30 pm, with committal and reception to follow.
