Elva S Salazar

Elva grew up with her loving family in Alice and lived on a ranch. In 1956 she married Pedro Sanchez while living in Chapman Ranch, and there they started a family before later moving to Houston. Thru their union, and many years together they had eight beautiful children, who later gave them several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Elva was not only a full-time dedicated mother to her children, but she was also a hard worker outside the home; she had a career that spanned 27 years working for the Kmart company as a supervisor. Everyone who met and knew her would say she had a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a beautiful heart.

Elva was an extraordinary woman; she was kind, funny, and loving to all who knew her. She was the strong matriarch that all her family gravitated towards, thru her kindness, generosity, integrity, and passion. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing, listening to live music, singing, and spending time with her family. It wasn’t uncommon to see her cooking a meal while dancing in the kitchen.

Elva was preceded in death by her parents Guillermo and Jesusa Salazar, her siblings, Elma, Heriberto, Elia, Elda, Hector, and Esmeralda. She is also preceded in death by her two children Jesus Sanchez, and Rosalva Hernandez.

Elva is survived by her sister Clara Ramon and survived by her children Rosemary O’der (Randy), Rachel Cortez (Gilbert), Sandra Vondereau (Brian), Pedro Sanchez Jr. (Dawn), Ramiro Sanchez, and Melissa Brookland.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Michelle Trevino, Jennifer Sauceda, Jason Juarez, Jonathan Sanchez, Olivia Hernandez, Joshua Sanchez, Juan Cordova, Angelica Cordova, Damaris O’der, Guadalupe Flores, Monica Cortez, Michael Cortez, Heather Valle, Gerard McGlone, Matthew McGlone, Michael McGlone, Pete Sanchez III, Sheridan Koerber, Vincent Sanchez, Halen Sanchez, Alexandra Brookland, Savannah Brookland, and Maria Vasquez. Along with all her grandchildren she is survived by great, and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for Elva will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.

A funeral service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook St, Houston, TX 77034.

A graveside service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
