

Florence Marie Hendrix passed away on Wednesday evening, the 22nd day of December 2021. Affectionately known to her family as “Mamaw” and “Grandma”, she transitioned on to her new life at 95 years in this world. Her daughter and son-in-law were blessed to be by her side when she passed.
She was born in Bonham, Texas, on the 5th day of June, 1926, to Howard Buren and Vera Ivanell Griffith. Florence had one sister, Joyce Zimmerman.On December 3, 1946, Florence married the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Hendrix in Mena, Arkansas. They had two daughters, Cheryl and Melinda.
Life would eventually take them to Shreveport, Louisiana and then finally to Houston, Texas, where Hank retired and they enjoyed traveling. They loved antiquing with their friends and spent many years acquiring beautiful furniture and glassware. They spent many summers camping and boating with their family and friends. Florence had a very full life traveling the world with Hank and friends. Her travels took her to China, Turkey, Russia, France, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska, London, Greece and Italy. She was a member of a Bunco group forover 40 years and also a Canasta group. She loved each one of these ladies and looked forward to being with them each month.
Florence was an avid quilter and owned a quilt store called Memories Made with four others and taught hand quilting classes. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets for everyone and make some very intricate and beautiful cross stitch designs. Florence was a member of Friendswood Methodist Church where she participated in Joyful Hearts and the Quilting Ministry.
Florence is predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Henry “Hank” Hendrix; her sister, Joyce Zimmerman; and her daughter, Cheryl.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Funni and husband, Craig; granddaughters Megan Garcia and husband Manny; Kelly Parker and husband Justin; Christina Ross; grandson, Erik Ross and wife Chrissy; great granddaughters, Emma Parker, Charlotte Parker and Erin Allen.
A visitation for Florence will be held Saturday, January 1, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 PM. A committal service will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
