Dr. Frank Garcia Jr.

October 20, 1933 – December 10, 2025

Dr. Frank Garcia, Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. Born in Bogota on October 20, 1933, he was the son of Julia Castillo Garcia and Frank Garcia, Sr. He grew up in Brooklyn, joined the Air Force and went to LSU, University of Colorado and University of Houston.

Frank’s life was defined by devotion to family and a distinguished career in aerospace engineering. In 1963, he began his work at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where he contributed to both manned and unmanned missions. He also worked as a Program Manager with IBM Federal Systems. He concluded his career working for NASA-JSC on the International Space Station program. His passion for exploration and innovation continued well into retirement, reflecting a lifelong dedication to advancing human knowledge and achievement.

Frank shared over 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patsy Garcia. He built a family rooted in love and support. He is survived by Patsy and his four children: Julie Lindsey, Steve Garcia (Nancy), Glenn Garcia, M.D., and Karl Garcia (Nichole). He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mario Garcia.

Frank will be remembered for his integrity, curiosity, and unwavering commitment to both his family and his work. His legacy lives on in the generations he inspired and the missions he helped make possible.

A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, on December 16, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at the same location on December 16, 2025, at 6:00 pm.

The Funeral Mass will take place at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Blvd, Houston, TX 77059, on December 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

The Committal Service will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, on December 17, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
