

September 9,1947 - January 14, 2012
Fred William Salzmann, 64, went home to Jesus' loving arms unexpectedly on January 14, 2012 in Houston, Texas.
Fred was born in Galveston, Texas on September 9, 1947 to Eugene and Florence Salzmann.
He attended the 9th grade at Leysin American School in Leysin, Switzerland and graduated from La Marque High School, home of the Tigers, in 1966.
Fred joined the Naval Reserves while still in high school and was called into active duty upon graduation. He served his country in the Vietnam War.
Fred attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1973.
Fred was the Art Director at Vacation Publication for over 25 years. He truly loved the work he did and the people he worked with. He enjoyed many things in life including listening to live music, taking tons of pictures, caring for his two kitties, Big Boy and Kitty Boy, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Florence (O'Mara) Salzmann, sisters Suzan (Neal) Platzer and Carol (Tom) Parr, children April (Cesar) Ontiveros and Travis (Angie) Salzmann, grandchildren Noah and Seth Ontiveros, and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Kay, and brother-in-law, David Alan Johnson.
Services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas on Thursday, January 19 at 3pm.
