Frederick C. Lawrence

Frederick Christopher Lawrence passed away Saturday, November 08, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Webster, Texas. Beloved husband of Helen Jeanine Lawrence. Son of the late Fred Elmer Lawrence and Marguerite Adalaide Gunther. Brother of JoAnna C. Blair and husband Henry, and the late Leonard F. Lawrence. Grandson of the late Anna Eisener Lawrence. Uncle of Henry J. Blair, Jr. (Wanda), Jennifer Grantham (Tim), and Dr. Fred C. Blair (Kerri).

Born in 1935 and raised and went to school in Bronx, New York. He graduated from City College of New York with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1957. He began working for Phillips Petroleum Co., in Pasadena, Texas. He was moved by Phillips in 1968 to Bartlesville, Oklahoma for 24 years which included considerable out of state and foreign travel. He married Jeanine Dillenback in 1962. He returned to the Houston area and retired in 1992. He did free Tax Assistance for VITA and AARP, also was an usher for the 1894 Grand Opera House in Galveston, Texas, Galveston County Gateway Visitor Center, Election Judge for a polling place. He was a member of the Johnson Space Center Stamp Club, The Phillips Retirees, CCNY Alumni Association, Stroke Support Group, the Diabetes Support Group and the Masonic Lodge in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Fred was interested in Politics, Voting in Every Election, attending City Council Meetings, and School Board Meetings. He was a member of University Baptist Church, Clear Lake, Attending business meetings and volunteering as church receptionist and Sunday Greeter with his wife. He really enjoyed helping people and volunteered to help many organizations.

Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Freeway From 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. in the Chapel, with Dr. Steven Laufer Officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery Mausoleum.
