

Gan Sang Gin, age 80, of Allen, Texas, passed away on May 29, 2013 at 4:30 pm. The only son of Jan Yeam Gaw and Ha Oi Gaw, Gan was born in Canton, China on November 19, 1932. His family moved from Canton to Hong Kong in 1948, where he spent the next four years in high school, meeting his future wife, Pui Chun Wong, in 1950. In 1952, he left China for the United States to pursue a college education in engineering at Lamar University. A few credits shy from graduating, he returned to Hong Kong to marry Pui on October 15, 1965. With his new bride, Gan returned to the United States, in April of 1966, in search of the American dream. An entrepreneurial businessman, Gan settled in Spring Branch, Texas for the majority of his life. Gan had a passion for writing and spent his free-time working on his own auto-biography, recording in detail his family's life accomplishments with pride. Gan is survived by his wife, Pui Chun Gin, and his daughter, Anna Oy Gin, and her two children, Travis Aaron Connolly and Abigail Lynne Connolly, and his son, Patrick King Gin and his wife, Kathryn Elly Gin, and their three sons, Nathaniel Patrick Gin, Zachary Michael Gin, and Joseph Xavier Gin.
