

He passed quietly on March 10th of 2024, after a short battle with his health. He was 95 years old.
George was born in Manhattan, New York City on July 4th, 1928, to his parents Joseph & Agnes Marshall. Shortly thereafter the family moved to the borough of Queens where the family lived happily for many years. After moving to Queens, a few years later came the birth of his only sister Barbara, despite the age difference they remained very close until her passing.
With the outbreak of WW2, George volunteered to enter the United States Navy in 1945 as a Control Tower Operator and served bravely aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier “USS Boxer”.
Upon discharge from the US Navy, in 1949 George enlisted in the newly formed United States Air Force in which he would serve with honor for 25 years. It was this life-changing milestone that defined the rest of his life. His career started out as an airport approach controller. It was in this capacity that he served with distinction in the Korea war, ensuring the success of safe, effective, and deadly air missions emanating from the Pusan Combat Air Area of Operations. Through expertise and experience after the war, George was asked to transition into the position as a Radar Control Instructor. In this capacity his knowledge would increase the combat effectiveness of the Air Force through the intense training of countless subordinates in the quickly advancing technology of Air Traffic Control. His educational aptitude was so present that seniors within the Air Traffic Control community encouraged his to enroll in Officer Candidate School and he graduated September 10th, 1954.
During his career, he served as Commander of the Communications Detachment in Bovington England, as well as Niagara Falls, New York. In this capacity, he had 14 Airbases and 50 Air Traffic Controllers under his supervision. This high critical position, he supervised the safe and effective air traffic in and throughout multiple countries to include England, France and Canada.
Through his successes, he was promoted to the coveted position of Inspector General of the Western Communications Region. He was picked for this position due to his innate dedication to attention to detail, which is the backbone of the air traffic control discipline. He was responsible for the reorganizing and implementation of an intricate comprehensive inspection program. This broad and critical program covered a vast operational area and encompassed the standardization over 3500 Airmen in 13 western states.
During his military career George earned his Bachelor of General Education degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska. He attended the Air and Staff College in 1966. Among some of his many medals and ribbons, he was additionally honored with the Meritorious Service Medal upon his retirement February 28th, 1970.
Following his retirement, George settled into the beautiful Rocky Mountain front-range community of Broomfield Colorado for 20 years, where he lived with and raised his children. It was during this time that he entered into his second career as a realtor. So evident were his administrative and personal skill set that he was recommended and successful in transitioning into the position of Executive Vice President of the Jefferson County Board of Realtors. He held this role for numerous years, and effectively transformed the Jefferson County Board of Realtors into one of the nation's most respected real estate Co- ops.
George’s successes were so visible and coveted, that he was offered the Executive Vice President position with the San Diego Board of Realtors and excepted. He served in this position for multiple years until his retirement.
George moved to the quiet seaside community of Padre Island, Texas where through friends he eventually met his future bride, Janet Priess.
George is survived by his dedicated wife Janet, as well as his daughter Leslie and son Scott. He has a granddaughter Cathy, as well as her sons, Scott, Jake, and Stevie.
