Houshang was born on a cold winter night in Tehran, Iran in 1939 to Pasha and Fari Kobra Mohammedkhani-Sarabi. In his youth, Houshang was a wrestler, mountain climber, soldier, and as the oldest son in his family, a leader for his 4 younger siblings. At 25, he moved across the world, leaving all that he knew and loved, to raise a family in America. He found his way, with no guidance, by forging a successful career for 20 years with the Southland Corporation, and later as an entrepreneur as a second career.
Houshang was a man of passion and reason. He passionately loved his children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, gardening, and was the consummate party host. His gift was that he had a heart full of life and love, and he freely shared that with everyone that had the fortune of being a part of his life.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene, his parents, Pasha and Fari Kobra, brother Habib Sarabi, nephew Bostour Kheyri, son-in-law Mark Dulevitz, and many friends. He is survived by his son William Sarabi with wife Lisette, daughter Frances Sarabi, daughter Arian Dulevitz, and daughter Katayoon Colley with husband Jared. His much loved grandchildren William Dulevitz, Sara Dulevitz, Aidan Dulevitz, Hannah Colley, and Morgan Colley. His adored sisters Mahin Sarabi, sister Pahvin Mafi with husband Parviz, sister Shahin Sarabi, brother Behrouz Sarabi. Along with Houshang’s cherished nephews and nieces, Baktosh, Bostour, Bushra, Poupak, Ali, Houman, Hades, Somaya, and Melodie.
A memorial service for Houshang will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
