Istvan Steve Domokos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Istvan "Steve" Domokos, who left this world on May 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 27, 1942, in Debrecen, Hungary, Istvan lived a life rich in love, laughter, and culinary excellence.

Istvan was the beloved son of Gyula and Maria Domokos and was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings and his cherished Great Grandson, Paxton Bednarik. His legacy is carried on by his devoted spouse, Julianna Domokos, with whom he shared over 50 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home filled with warmth and joy. Istvan was a proud father to his sons, Steve and Alex Domokos, and his daughter, Julia Domokos. He took great pride in his family, and his love extended to his daughter-in-law, Trudy Domokos and son-in-law, Kollega Tarsoly Laszlo Albert. He was a proud grandfather to Steven, Christopher, Nicholas, Rachael, Lauren, Brandon, Trevor, Charlotte, Logan, Colyn, Charlie, and Laszlo . He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Daxton, Dakota, Sarai, Bankston, Abigail, Paxton, Everleigh, Beckham, and Hudson. He also embraced and loved his vast extended family. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, wisdom, and kindness.

Istvan's journey took him from Hungary then Canada and finally to Texas, where he served in the Hungarian Army before embarking on a distinguished career as a Certified Executive Chef (CEC) and an instructor at the Culinary Art Institute of Houston. He was passionate about the culinary arts and had a special talent for pleasing everyone with his delicious food. His warmth and humor made him a beloved figure, not just in his family, but also with his close friends.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Istvan enjoyed fishing and playing the piano, activities that brought him immense joy and relaxation. He approached life with a funny and warm-hearted spirit, always striving to make those around him smile. In his final years, Istvan found solace and comfort in the love of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, infectious laughter, and the way he brightened every room he entered.

A private funeral service will be held in League City TX, honoring the life of this remarkable man. Istvan's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
