J. R. Gunn

He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia; parents, Rupert and Eunice Jackson Gunn; great-grandson, Conar Rose and his in-laws.

He is survived by children, Jay R. Gunn, Terry L. Gunn, Cynthia L. Wilson (Wayne); brother, Dorman Ray Gunn; sisters, Mary Ruth Pope, Norma Jean Grantham and Joy Juanita Fox. 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He graduated high school in Kosse, Texas. He went into the Air force. After returning home he married his childhood girlfriend Patricia McLendon and was married for 64 years.

He worked for Phibro Refinery for 42 years. On most if not all long change times we would go on vacation, which we enjoyed. Then he and mom traveled the world, they really enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri where they would meet up with their good friends. Dad was the best provider to his family that anyone could ask for. He always made sure his family was taken care of.

The family is very appreciative and very grateful for the love and care that was given to J.R. from all the staff at Colonial Oaks Vista (Village) and the staff with Grace Hospice especially Mary and Gloria.

A visitation for J.R. will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. His funeral service will start at 10:00 am Friday, August 21, 2020. A committal service will immediately follow.
