He was married to Cornelia (Caty) Beekenkamp for 51 years.
Jim had a career in the aerospace industry, working for NASA. He was involved in the Apollo and space shuttle teams. He was a member of League City United Methodist Church and had a passion for his church, the Houston Rockets, Astros, and travel.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Wister Covy Flowers and Wilma Carolyn Russ Flowers, sister, Jean Fatton, and niece, Judy Sorenson.
Jim is survived by wife, Caty Flowers, sister, Marie Shepherd, son, Richard James Flowers of Taylor Texas, daughter Kay C Thomson of Elgin,Texas, grandchildren Corey James Flowers (wife Morgan), Cortney Deann Flowers, Rickey Lee Calhoun (wife Tiffany), Christopher James Calhoun (Samantha), Wendy Pasket, Donald “Gage” Pasket, seven great-grandchildren, five nephews, one niece, and seven great-nephews and nieces
