He was born in Houston on January 6, 1966; one of four children belonging to Julian and Maria (del Socorro) Gomez.
Javier graduated from Milby High School in 1984. After graduation he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Houston. Javier had a career in teaching to children with disabilities for 16 years at Harris County Department of Education. Javier was passionate about cooking and grilling all kinds of delicious food; fried rice, chicken fettuccine alfredo, burgers, brisket, ribs, and gumbo to name a few. He loved entertaining his beloved friends and family. His dedication to landscaping and decorating his backyard space showed how important it was for him to make his guests feel comfortable and enjoy their time with him there. He loved being a host to the guest in his home. We will remember him and name his backyard “Javy’s Place” in memory of him.
Javier cherished his time with his sons, Julian and Jaidan. He would call them each day and plan the menu for when they would come over for weekends. His boys meant everything to him—it was his greatest joy being their father. Javy also loved music; in his early days Javy and his brother were known as the DJ duo Cartoon Capers. Later on he continued to DJ solo as DJ Azteca. Javy was a great father, son, brother, and friend; he was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria del Socorro Gomez.
He is survived by his sons, Julian Kaleb Gomez and Jaidan Javier Gomez; his father Julian Gomez, one brother Orlando (Elsa) Gomez, and two sisters, Marybel (Juan) Diaz, and Veronica (Faruk) De Leon. Also surviving are three nieces and two nephews.
