

She was born in Denham Springs, Louisiana on April 4, 1921 to Doc and Edna Ellis. She graduated from Denham Springs High School and attended Louisiana State University.
Joyce was married to Ray E. Cain on December 1, 1946, who predeceased Joyce in 1985. Joyce and Ray traveled extensively during Ray’s career in the U.S. Army. Joyce was in the initial group of women allowed to travel to Europe after the end of World War II and actually lived in Germany from 1948 through 1954.
Joyce was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Friendswood, Texas. She was an avid reader, loved to cook for family and friends, enjoyed an occasional glass of Chardonnay and certainly enjoyed living the high life with her many friends. Joyce loved life and certainly lived it to its fullest. Most of all, Joyce was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her love was returned by all that knew her.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Cindi Scott and husband Steve Scott and son Bob Cain and wife Linda Beth Cain. She is also survived by grandchildren Jake Scott and wife Casey Scott, Katie Scott, T. J. Scott, Kallie Scott, Ashlie Souders and husband Brandon Souders, Melissa Cain, and Ryan Cain. In addition, she is survived by five great grandchildren; Jackson Wilcox, Presley, Harper and Walker Souders and Lyla Scott.
Joyce had a twin brother, Jessie Wayne Ellis who predeceased Joyce and one sister Ida Mae Miller who resides in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home and the Celebration of Life for Mrs. Cain will be held on Thursday, January 8th, 2014 at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home.
