JoAnn Lindsey passed away January 18, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was born February 1, 1936, in Houston, to J.C. and Opal Lindsey. JoAnn was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Frances Blankenship, Sarah Jacqueline “Jackie” Blankenship, Murrel Lindsey, and Beverly McLendon, as well as their spouses.
A graduate of Jefferson Davis High School’s Class of 1954, JoAnn went on to build a remarkable 40-year career with Humble Oil Company—later Exxon Mobil—serving as an Administrative Secretary and ultimately as Executive Secretary to the Exxon Executive Directors. She retired in 1996, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism, and loyalty.
JoAnn shared an especially close bond with her sisters, and together they embraced life with enthusiasm—shopping, traveling, cruising, and even snow skiing. She maintained an independent, active lifestyle into her 80s, including participation in a bowling league. A devoted Houston Astros fan, she also found great joy watching old concert performances by her favorite entertainer, Neil Diamond.
During the last five and a half years of her life, JoAnn resided at Greatwood at Sugar Land Senior Living and, most recently, at Barton House Memory Care in Sugar Land, Texas.
She was a beloved aunt, deeply cherished by her niece, nephews, and their families, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Barton House for the compassionate care shown to JoAnn during her time there.
Visitation will be held on January 26, 2026 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm with the Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 pm.
Those wishing to honor JoAnn’s memory may consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
