JoNeita Bencal

JoNeita Adams Bencal, 80, passed away peacefully May 27, 2017, with her daughters by her side. She was born in Houston, Texas, on July 19, 1936, to Stacy and Mildred Adams. She married John Robert Bencal, Jr., on September 1, 1956, in Houston, Texas. They moved to Friendswood, Texas, in 1966 and lived there until 2015, when they moved to an assisted living facility in Katy, Texas.

JoNeita was a loving wife and mother who was a source of strength and love for her family until the day she died. She was adored and appreciated by her family across generations. In the 60’s and 70’s, JoNeita was an active member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Friendswood, Friendswood Girl Scouts and Bluebirds, PTA, The Journal Newspaper and numerous other community organizations. JoNeita began working as a secretary in her husband’s business, J.R. Bencal & Associates, Inc. in 1974 and continued until her retirement in 2000. In retirement, JoNeita found enjoyment in quilting and loved the friendships she made in the Lakeview Quilters Guild.

JoNeita was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Stacy; her brothers, Niles & Edward Adams; half-sister Alice Marie Adams; and her husband John R. Bencal, Jr.

JoNeita is survived by her daughter, Renee Blake and husband Kevin; her daughter, Donna McIver and husband Calvin; her daughter, Allison Moore and husband Michael; and her daughter, Candace Callahan and husband Randy. Along with her grandchildren, Michelle and Jordan Blake, Emily and Tyler McIver, Brandi, Camron and Dillon Moravek. Step-grandchildren, Brea, Kevin and Wesley Callahan.

The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation and love to the residents and staff of The Orchard of Katy Assisted Living, for their friendship and special care of John and JoNeita. In addition, Resolution Hospice’s expertise and care gave the family special comfort in the last days, for which we are grateful.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, with the funeral services following at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX.
