Born on November 24, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, to Clarence and Alice Peak. June was a sweet soul with a knack for creativity, and a deep love for family. She grew up in Tyler, Texas, where she met her husband Bill, whom she married on June 18, 1955. The couple briefly relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana, before settling in Pearland, Texas to raise their son Jeff. Using skills learned at Tyler Junior College of Business, she worked clerical jobs in the early 1970's, but soon pivoted to full-time motherhood, and teaching her beloved Tole painting to the community of Pearland.
She spent the following decades finding joy in weekly card games with friends, crocheting, singing in the church choir, bowling, RV camping trips, and perfecting her legendary lemon cake recipe for her grandchildren's birthdays, where she could always be counted on to provide the famous “ ... and many more” at the end of the birthday song.
She is survived by her husband William Walton, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Dana Walton, grandsons Benjamin and Nicholas Walton, Dana’s sisters and their families, brothers-in-law Tom Walton, Bob Walton and his wife Lynne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
June was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alice Peak.
The service will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. with a visitation prior at 9 a.m. June will be laid to rest in Tyler, Texas at Rose Hill Cemetery on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2 p.m.
