Lewis, or Tony to many of his friends, enjoyed a blessed life surrounded by people he loved and doing the things he enjoyed. Lewis grew up on the streets of Newark, NJ and shared many stories of the times spent with his brothers and sisters, many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. He joined the Air Force after high school and was stationed at Ellington Air Force base in Houston, TX. It was here that he met the love of his life and asked Anne Russo to be his bride.
Tony and Anne enjoyed 48 years of marriage and every one of those days was a day spent in love. The bond and commitment that these two shared was evident to all who met them. There were few days in those 48 years that they did not spend together. Tony and Anne had two children, Anthony and Kimberly. Anthony preceded his parents into heaven and is forever a cherished child. Kimberly gave Tony two grandchildren, Hailey Elizabeth and Joseph Anthony, that Tony loved with all his heart. Tony’s lifelong friends Papion and Jim got together frequently and spent many holiday meals in company.
Tony spoke often of his life’s experiences, whether it be as an air traffic controller at Ellington Air Force Base or his career as turbine inspector for Siemens TurboCare and enjoyed a life full of purpose and success. He was a man of many talents with a surprising array of hobbies from racing cars and a music recording studio, to photography and developing film, to computers and wood working. Tony built much of the furniture that he and Anne proudly still use. He approached all of his efforts with the tenacity of a weed. He was a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed discussing a variety of topics about history or home repair and old movies and music.
Lewis Anthony Minnella is preceded into heaven by his mother Carmella and father Joe and sister Diane and his cherished son Anthony. He is survived by his wife Anne, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Jay and their children Hailey and Joseph, his brothers Joe and Vinny and sister Mary and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Please join me in celebrating Tony’s life and keep fresh the memories that you shared with him. We are all a little better that he was in our lives and a little sadder that he is gone. Tony will be missed.
