Lois Marie Nounes

Lois Marie Rathjen was born June 26,1949 in Burleson County. She was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew and Rosalie Rathjen, and the cherished sister of William Rathjen of Missouri City, Texas, James Rathjen of North Carolina, and Dolores Faust of Caldwell, Texas.

Lois married the love of her life, John Nounes and together they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. Their life together was centered around family, devotion, and deep unwavering love.

She is survived by her husband, John Nounes of League City, Texas and their four children:

Tina Markovich, and grandchildren , Makenzie and Marko, of Texas City, Texas

Celeste and Randy Hulsey , grandchildren, Katelyn, Tyler, and Preston of Santa Fe , Texas

Anita and Jason Boudreau , grandchildren Kylie and Zachary of League City, Texas

John and Amelia Nounes and grandson, John of League city, Texas

Lois lived a full and joy-filled life dedicating her heart to raising her four children, whom she adored more than anything. She treasured every moment spent with her family and was overjoyed to become a grandmother- her grandchildren were truly the light of her life.

She loved being outdoors soaking up the sun, spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for the people she loved, and filling her home with music. Lois had a beautiful gift for playing the piano and a deep love for crocheting. Even as dementia touched her later years, she continued to create stunning blankets with the same gentle hands that cared for her family.

A country girl at heart, she was known for her warm smile, her joyful singing and dancing around the house with her grandchildren, and the unwavering love she poured into everyone around her. She had a sparkle in her eye and a playful spirit, often saying things like ‘kiss my grits’ with the sweetest smile and just a hint of sass. Her laughter, her kindness, and her gentle, loving nature left a mark on everyone that knew her.

Lois will be deeply missed and forever remembered, held close in the hearts of everyone that loved her.
