

Luther Taylor Nelson, age 70, of Dickinson, TX, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021. He was born in Crites, West Virginia on November 11, 1951, to the late Roy Edward Nelson and Marie Bills Nelson Lucas.
Luther entered the US Army in 1968 at the young age of 17 and received his Honorable Discharge in 1974. He was stationed at Camp Kyle in South Korea and served in the 4th Maintenance Battalion, his role was Reactionary Force Team, making sure weapons and ammunition were kept ready for issue and delivery. He had a long career in management within the glass manufacturing industry. Luther had a passion for volunteering with community programs helping organize donation drives for school supplies, food and Christmas gifts. He was enjoying retirement, fishing, working on home improvements and caring for his 5 rescued pets.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Suk Nelson, one son Donnel Nelson of Houston, TX, two daughters and one son-in-law, Bonneda Nelson Kallan and Tim Kallan of Roswell, GA, and Twilla Nelson Jones of Rogers, AR; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Taylor and Jacob Nelson, Wyatt and Sloane Kallan, and Chance and Trace Jones; three great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Lillian Nelson and Piper Nelson; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Charlie Clonch of Milton, WV, Liz and Tom Shaffer, of Milton, WV, Louise and Mike Gibson of Salt Rock, WV, Nina and Larry Breedlove of Milton, WV; one brother and sister-in-law Roy and Cathy Nelson Jr. of Huntington, WV and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers Byrd Nelson, Walden Nelson, Collie Lucas, Dillard Lucas, and Tommy Lucas, two sisters, Shirley Newman and Freda Harless.
A memorial celebration of life for Luther will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
