Margie Pollock, 89, of Houston passed away on June 9, 2020 at 1:40 in the morning. She was born in Epps, Louisiana on April 25, 1931 to Charlie and Goldie Feroben. As a young woman, she grew up with a close knit and loving family. They lead a simple, rural life. That foundations built there, stuck with her throughout her life.
She held a few jobs throughout her life. Two of them impacted her greatly. The first to do so was the 2 years she spent working in a mental hospital in Baton Rouge. There she was touched by both the patients and the staff. In her last years of life, she would return to those memories. Some lovely and some haunting.
She finally “landed” at Hobby Airport, where the chief of her numerous accomplishments, was the creation a family. People seemed drawn to her loving personality and her sharp wit. The friends she made there became her family and their friendships lasted her lifetime.
She had a passion for gardening, fishing, reading, saltwater, and the country. She loved the outdoors.
She also enjoyed telling stories about the times she spent with her sister, Margaret. Margaret was not only her sister but her best friend. Margie never really got over her sister’s death.
In 2002, she married the love of her life, Floyd Williams. He not only provided her with the companionship that they both longed for, but, also with a new family. Floyd’s children: Rickie, John David, Scott, and Clayton. This new family gave her the children that she had always wanted, but never had.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Goldy Feroben, her siblings, her husband Floyd and stepson Rickie Williams.
She is survived by her stepsons Scott and his wife Tammi, Clayton and his wife Yvonne, John David and his wife Joy, her niece Rhonda Cross, her longtime friends Frank Shanka and his wife Joanna Friesen, her longtime friends Michael and Beverly Cain. And by numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 9:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 10:00am and internment in Forest Park East Cemetery.
The family requests that everyone who attends please wear a facial mask.
