

Margie Lee Stamy went to heaven February 20th 2012. Margie was born March 4th 1927 to Bonnie Irene Smith Gunter and Jewel Gunter in Rusk Texas. Margie’s mother passed when she was three and her father Jewel remarried to Ila White Gunter and Margie only remembered Ila as her mother. She was the youngest of three siblings, Her brothers Grady and Eldridge proceeded her in death. Margie met our Dad, who was stationed at Ellington Army Air base at the end of WWII. They were living next to each other. Margie or one of the girls she was living with “tossed” a ball over the hedge into the yard of the house behind her. All of the men billeted in that house had to return the ball to the girls’ house. Our Father Robert Lewis Stamy was one of those men. Margie and Bob Stamy have been married for 66 years. Margie is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Lewis Stamy and her four children, Carol Ann Stamy Burnett, John Robert Stamy, Richard Lee Stamy and wife Karen, and Paul David Stamy and wife Cindy. Margie had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mom spent most of her life Southeast of Houston in the Friendswood-Pearland area. She retired from Friendswood Independent School District after 22 years as the Food Service Director.
A memorial will be held at Friendswood United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Friday the 24th of February. The church is located at 110 N. Friendswood Drive in Friendswood, Texas 77546.
