Michael Clements, age 50, of Seattle, Washington passed away September 8th, 2022. He was born on June 4th, 1972 to Joan and Ed Hirschauer in Sioux City, Iowa. Ed was his biological father. Rick Clements adopted Mike in 1979 and after 1985 maintained a long-distant relationship. He passed away in 2018. Mike was never married, although he had a 2-year relationship with his late girlfriend, Nay Hogans, who passed away in January of 2022. Mike was an only child. His mother, Joan and stepfather, James Bross are his closest living relatives. He has several cousins', aunts, and uncles in other states.
Mike attended Bothell High School in Bothell, Washington. After graduation an accident left Mike paraplegic at age 21. After a year of rehabilitation, he learned to live independently and rented an apartment at Center Park Apartments in the South Rainer area of Seattle. He still lived there at the time of his death.
Mike had a passion for skateboarding in his school years and continued to enjoy watching other skateboarders when he could not do it anymore. Mike was very likeable and made friends easily. He acquired many friendships at Center Park and lost a few along the way.
Music and movies were a big part of Mike's life. He enjoyed collecting vinyl records, mixing records and he had a big cassette tape collection. He also had a very extensive collection of DVD movies. He enjoyed a wide variety of music. He loved art, collecting Legos, Mexican food and going to second hand vinyl record stores.
Family and friends describe Mike as a kind and gentle young man. He was fun loving and loved the simple things of life. Mike was a calm, easy going gentleman with great patience and an uncanny witty sense of humor that many enjoyed. A man who was very close to and deeply devoted to his mother. He always appreciated that she was there for him in anytime he needed her. He loved his whole family and all his friends, far and near.
During his adult life Mike enjoyed occasional visits to Houston where his mother moved to in 2002. He always had a good time when he came down (if it wasn't too hot). Likewise, Mike's mom, Joan and Stepfather James liked to come and visit him regularly in Seattle.
Mike had a difficult life, most recently a long period of hospitalizations from December 2021 to June 2022 in Seattle at Harborview Hospital. But the one thing that always stands out is that he always gracefully met his obstacles with a positive attitude, no matter how big the challenge. He kept busy in the hospital working with adult coloring books with color pencils and watching movies.
Mike's favorite baseball team was the Houston Astros. Some of his favorite bands were The Cure, Nirvana, and Kiss. He was very fond of 70's and 80's music. Oh yes, and his favorite fast-food place in Houston is Whataburger, an exclusive Texas eatery.
Mike won the hearts of friends and family from Alaska to Florida and all places in between. He will always be remembered, never to be forgotten and will always be loved and painfully missed by many.
A memorial service for Michael will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a reception from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
