

Michael Jerry Mitzner Sr., 59, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on April 9, 1967, to Mary Annette Sanderson Mitzner, and William Jerry Mitzner. He was married to Stephanie Rheaume Mitzner for 35 years.
Mike had a 37-year career in the oil and gas industry as a chemical engineer. He began his career with Chevron in Pascagoula, Mississippi, before moving on to Pennzoil, where he worked in Shreveport, Louisiana, Houston, Texas and Punta Cardon, Venezuela. He later transitioned into catalyst sales career with AkzoNobel and subsequently Axens North America. Over the course of his career, Mike's expertise and dedication took him across the United States and around the globe.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was a man of deep faith and strong community conviction. A proud American and devoted Christian, he was an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Clear Lake Masonic Lodge, the Houston Scottish Rite, the Knight Templars, and Gideons International. In 2014, he founded CHIP, a charitable 501(c)(3) Christian ministry with outreach to India and the Gypsy Church Nirmal, led by Pastor Nagavath Ganesh. His heart for Christ, for people, and for service was evident in everything he did.
Mike was also a dedicated servant to the University of South Alabama, where he served on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. As a key industry leader on the advisory board, he worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between education and the professional world and took great joy in mentoring students and connecting them with industry leaders.
He was preceded in death by his mother Annette; his father, Jerry; and his father-in-law, Norman Lionel Rheaume Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, of Mobile, Alabama; his children, Maddie Mitzner, Matthew Robert Mitzner, Sophia Marie Mitzner; his sister, Amy Lynn Mitzner Robinson, and her husband Stephen Christopher Robinson; his nephews Alexander Winslow Green, Jeremiah Winslow Green, and Hunter Christian Robinson; and his mother-in-law, Cathy Diehl Rheaume.
Those who knew Mike will forever cherish his love for his faith, his family, and his many friends. He delighted in attending concerts and Houston Rockets games, playing golf, swimming, and spending time with his beloved dogs — especially his huskies.
