Michael Owen Murphy, 73, of Pearland, Texas passed away on July 2nd 2023. Michael was born in Houston, Texas on June 26, 1950 to Denzil Finis Murphy and Annie Lee Murphy. He was raised in Houston and graduated from Sterling High School. He was a skating instructor and competed and won in dance skating competitions until he was drafted and joined the Navy. He served 4 yrs on the USS Gilmore and the USS Pawcatuck. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After the Navy he worked at Automatic Power until he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and was a jack of all trades.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Murphy, step daughters Della Lou Cole and Diana Lynn Munro. He is survived by step daughter Debra Lee Whitt, grandchildren Scott Monnat, Kristen Pineault, Sandra Munro, Charles Munro, Michael Cole, Tricia Peterson, and Jacob Cole and 16 great grandchildren.
A gathering for Michael will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Following the visitation interment will be at Forest Park East Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Murphy family.
