Mike was born June 13, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri to Steve and Marie Theodore, who preceded him in death. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1956. He started working for Terminal Railroad Association (TRRA) after high school. He then enlisted and served in the U. S. Army as a medic. After serving in the military, he returned to TRRA and retired after 44 years of service, to the day.
Mike was married to Marion Hester Theodore, the love of his life for almost 53 years and is preceded in death by her. He is survived by his two children, Michele Theodore Smalligan and Michael Theodore, wife Jacky Theodore and 5 grandchildren, Riley and Reid Smalligan, Alexander, Austin and Amalynn Theodore, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mike was the life of every party and had a joke or funny anecdote for any situation. He could always make others laugh with such comments as “my favorite color is plaid” or “you always ask when my birthday is, but never send me a card”. His care team referred to him as a “ray of sunshine”, due to his positive attitude. He was an avid sports fan keeping up with his hometown teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues even after moving to TX in 2018 to be closer to family. However, Mike didn’t just enjoy watching sports; he loved coaching and mentoring his children’s various youth sports teams at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.
We invite you to join the family during the visitation for a chance to share a funny memory or just give a much-needed hug to all of us who are already missing his infectious smile on Saturday April 9, 2022 at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, TX, starting at 1 PM with a memorial service immediately following at 2pm.
